My goal as a sculptor is to create freedom of form and thought. The viewer goes on a journey following the lines and curves of each creation. These sculptures are powerful in their slender grace, with a palate of color and a hard edge of jaggedness for their underlying shapes.
Each ceramic sculpture takes approximately two months to complete, proceeding through several processes. The raw beginnings stem from a block of white stoneware clay and evolve to its final creation, standing with an inserted steel rod on a 32” high mahogany colored wood pedestal. The sculpture alone is about 34” high.
Each sculpture is partially glazed and then high-fired to capture the emotion of transcending past to present. Some pieces are raku fired for an earthy appearance and some additionally decorated with low-fire detail.
